A New Concept – Transparency at Sutton Place
-
Dear Neighbor:
I do not normally engage in social media, but the behavior of the absolutely incompetent and self-promoting Boards of Directors of the past few years makes it clear that the community needs a source of reliable, comprehensive, and timely information about what is actually going on where we live. From the dismissal of all committees to the reprehensible occasions when the Board has singled out and attempted to humiliate and/or punished owners — and even a fellow Board member — for simply trying to uphold their rights or obtain information to which they are entitled, to annual elections conducted under procedures deigned to question their validity, the current Board of Susan Lapetina, Ross Harrison, Mary-Lynn Wrabel, and Cindy Drucker seem to be incapable of being objective, responsive, and, most of all, followers of the “community spirit” doctrine that is often cited yet never really honored. This blog hopes to remedy that.
This will be a place where any owner can easily look and see what is going on. No need for Building Link, no need to sign in anywhere and give up your anonymity, no need to fear retribution for disagreeing with the Board or Comsource (they’ll still be playing an oversized and disastrous part in SP’s operations), no need to go on camera for a Board meeting where the issues have already been decided and the Association and Comsource record and control your face and voice in this era of ID theft, no need to jump through hoops to obtain information which hopefully will be found on this website.
It will take some time to iron out the rough spots but I’ll do my best. If you want me to post something please let me know, although I make no promises. And while I will still send emails to the Board and community, this will help the truth reach a wider audience.
As we all know, this Board is pompous, self-centered, and non-responsive, especially to owners who ask uncomfortable questions or embarrass them. They withhold critical information even from one of their own, especially as regards our new GM. John Knauss was not given any details about him until after the fact, and the Board still has not shared with him any information about the compensation package we have given him despite multiple requests. We use an outside counsel who signed a letter full of lies about me, but doesn’t even have the courage to cite me by name because she knows they are lies. Susan, however, was foolish enough to do so.
I have offered more than once to meet with the Board to try to defuse this situation but they don’t even give the courtesy of a reply. If that’s how they want to play it, fine; it simply shows who and what they really are. But after counsel’s defamatory letter and the last Board meeting I can promise that if they publicly come after me again, unlike they have ever done to anyone else in the history of SP, I shall return the serve.
In closing, I await the next Board meeting with great interest. I will be interested to see if Susan Lapetina is again going to be manipulated by Marc Bertinelli, while Cindy and Mary-Lynn play their pitiful sycophant roles. I’m surprised that no one wears alencon lace sewn with seed pearls as trim, with leg-of-mutton sleeves with pearl trim, and a floral coiffure sprinkled with even more seed pearls, because that would really make the community sit up and take notice. My cousin used to be an executive with Mikimoto and I doubt she’s ever seen so many pearls. As a (Jewish-born) graduate of two traditional Catholic schools, Georgetown and Seton Hall Law, maybe I should go to Rome and get a Papal blessing for our Board’s work? They sure could use it.
